I am fascinated with orchids and their peculiar symbioses with pollinators and fungi. Exploring the structural foundations for these symbiotic relationships led me to paint on glass. When painting, I forget about everything else.
I draw using graphite pencils, colour pencils, inks, and sometimes fine blades. Drawing gives me opportunity to investigate a situation or a concept closely. I often combine naturalistic elements with abstracted, diagrammatical ones.
Illustration projects can be stimulating collaborations. I have illustrated fairy tales, music, poetry, research, ideas… and looking forward to more! Please get in touch if you would like to collaborate with me.
Painting, drawing and writing are my tools to make sense of the world. Striving to understand what characterises a thing beyond its surface gives me the impulse to develop from my roots in naturalistic painting to a more abstracting stylistic idiom. With a deep respect for the traditions of any one medium, I challenge their limits with the aim to enlarge their domain. I currently live and work in Leipzig.
As a freelance art educator, I love to get hands-on with groups of art enthusiasts of all ages and all stages of experiences. My expertise ranges from naturalistic drawing and painting to experimental abstract collage works, to the concepts and theory behind. With a degree in Fine Art and Aesthetic Education, I am confident to tailor my classes according to the needs of each individual group of learners.
Here is a list of my visual and written work in books and links to further information on them. I write on my own experiences in the art world and I develop in written format the ideas that also inspire my visual work.
